The Humble Beginnings of Dhid-Lehr<\/strong>
The story of Dhid-Lehr Boats begins on the serene shores of Lake Saimaa, Finland, in the early 1970s. It wasn’t born out of a corporate ambition, but rather a simple, shared passion for the water between two lifelong friends: Dhid Kallio and Lehr Korhonen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dhid and Lehr were inseparable from childhood, having grown up in the same small village, and spending many days and nights together fishing on Lake Saimaa. Their bond was legendary in the community\u2014they shared a house, a love for woodworking, and an unwavering belief that the perfect fishing boat hadn’t been built yet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 1974, they decided to combine their skills. Dhid was a master of structural integrity, knowing exactly how to work his wood to withstand the harsh Finnish winters. Lehr was an artist with finishes and oils, ensuring every vessel was not only functional but beautiful. Operating out of a small, rustic shed behind their shared home, Dhid-Lehr Boats was born. While they never married, their commitment to one another was absolute. They shared every meal, managed the household chores with a tacit division of labor, and spent their evenings discussing boat designs or listening to the radio by the fireplace.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
